Child Safety Standards
Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation.
levalock is a dating and friendship app for adults aged 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including any content depicting, promoting, or facilitating abuse of minors. This page describes the measures we take to prevent, detect, and respond to CSAE on our platform.
1. Age restriction (18+ only)
levalock is strictly limited to users aged 18 and over. During signup, every user must complete mandatory identity verification before they can access the app:
- Government-issued ID check — passport, driving licence, or national ID card, verified through Stripe Identity. The date of birth is programmatically extracted and checked against the 18+ threshold. Anyone under 18 is automatically blocked from creating an account.
- Live selfie verification — every user takes a live selfie which is compared against the ID document using AWS Rekognition face-matching. Estimated age is also cross-checked against the ID date of birth to catch obvious mismatches.
- Duplicate face detection — the same face cannot be used to create multiple accounts, preventing users from bypassing bans or age blocks by creating a second account.
2. Prohibited content
The following content is strictly prohibited and results in immediate account termination and, where applicable, reporting to law enforcement:
- Any sexual content, imagery, or messaging involving minors
- Content that grooms, solicits, exploits, or endangers minors in any way
- Attempts to contact, meet, or communicate with minors through the platform
- Content that promotes, glorifies, or normalizes the sexual abuse or exploitation of children
- Sharing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form
3. Detection and prevention
We combine automated systems with human moderation to detect and prevent CSAE on the platform:
- Automated photo moderation — every profile photo uploaded is scanned by AWS Rekognition for nudity, explicit content, and other prohibited imagery before it is published to the platform.
- Automated chat moderation — every message sent between users is screened server-side for language indicating grooming, solicitation of minors, or other CSAE-related activity. Flagged messages are blocked from delivery and automatically escalated to our moderation team.
- Human review — flagged content and reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24 hours.
4. Reporting mechanism
All users can report profiles, messages, or behavior of concern through the in-app Report flow, accessible from every profile view, chat, and safety menu. Users can also email us directly at contact@levalock.com with the subject line "Child safety concern" for urgent matters.
All CSAE-related reports are treated as the highest priority and reviewed within 24 hours. Reports can be submitted anonymously through the in-app flow.
5. Enforcement and response
When CSAE content or behavior is identified — whether through automated systems, user reports, or moderation review — we take the following actions:
- Immediate and permanent termination of the offending account and all associated accounts (identified via face-match and device identifiers).
- Preservation of relevant account data for law enforcement investigation, in accordance with applicable law.
- Reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline where required by law, and to equivalent authorities in the user's jurisdiction.
- Cooperation with law enforcement investigations, including responding to lawful requests for information under applicable legal process.
6. Cooperation with authorities
LUNIO Ltd cooperates fully with law enforcement and child safety organisations. We respond to lawful requests for information from law enforcement agencies as required by applicable law, including the UK Investigatory Powers Act, the EU Digital Services Act, and equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions where our users are located.
We report identified CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via CyberTipline where required by law, and to the UK Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and equivalent authorities in other regions.
7. Ongoing review
We regularly review and update our child safety policies, tools, and procedures to reflect emerging threats, best practices, and regulatory changes. This includes periodic audits of our verification systems, moderation processes, and reporting channels.
